She was very interested in the works of John Dee, an astronomer and astrologer, who delved into the occult. Once, when a doll of the Queen was found in a field in London, pierced through the heart with a pin, Elizabeth was so afraid that she summoned John Dee to neutralise the death spell it was believed had been cast upon her!
