Over the centuries, many stories have been told about Queen Elizabeth having given birth to secret children. Some people today still believe she did, and claim that Sir Francis Bacon and Robert Devereux, Earl of Essex, amongst others, were her children. However there is no evidence to suggest that the Queen ever bore children! It would have been extremely difficult for her to have hidden a pregnancy from her court! The Queen did not understand how people could believe these stories as "a thousand eyes see all I do!" she said! All the evidence suggests that she really was "The Virgin Queen" that she claimed to be.
