This noble realm of England is
under the rule of our gracious Sovereign Lady, Queen Elizabeth. I greet
thee. But if thou desireth to wander this noble realm
in liberty, thou must first prove thyself a loyal subject of Her Majesty
and England. To prove thy worth, thou must accept the challenge I,
Sir William Radcliffe, hereby set thee.
Hidden some where betwixt this place
and the heart of her Majesty's palace, is a trophy made of precious
gold. Thou must find it. If thou canst find it, thou wilt be welcome
by all, and be most esteemed. If thou cannot, thou wilt be seized as a
most vile traitor, and taken to the tower.
I ask thee now, dost thou wish to
accept this challenge ? Thou wilt need much wit and learning, and the courage
of a king.
If thou dost not accept the challenge,
thou may return in peace from where thee came.
If thou dost accept, I pray
god thou might succeed.
To thee belongeth the choice. Thou
must make it speedily.
